Audition Procedures  |  Cast Member Expectations
Appointments are not necessary and auditioners are taken in the order that they turn in their information sheet. First you will need to sing a prepared song. One verse is usually enough and you might be stopped when we have heard enough depending on time. A piano accompanist will be provided. You may then be requested to work some scales or intervals with the music director to determine range. Not all auditioners will be asked to call backs; however, this does not mean a person is not cast as some parts can be cast from the initial auditions.

RMT holds open auditions. No parts are pre-cast and all auditioners are invited to watch the audition procedure. We frequently have 30%-50% new-comers in a show. You will be asked to fill out an information sheet and a conflict calendar so please be prepared with your calendar. A head shot and resume are not required, but are accepted. We will take a digital picture so that we can be sure to remember you as you looked at auditions.

Vocal Audition Tips
For all women: Almost all female roles in this show will need to “belt”, or just sing loud much of the time. So if possible, prepare an audition song that shows off your “belt”, or at least your ability to sing with volume. If you don’t have a song that fits these criteria, that is fine – we’ll find other ways to check this at the auditions.

For men trying out for the roles of Jerry, Dave, or Malcolm: These parts are all written very high in the male register, so try to prepare an audition song that shows off your highest range.

For all other auditioners: Just choose a song that you are comfortable singing and that is not terribly complicated for the accompanist to sight-read (hint: don’t choose a song that has 6 sharps or flats, unless it’s fairly straightforward!).

Show Summary

Seeing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during their "Girls' Night Out," unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo New York come up with a bold way to make some quick cash. In the process they find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have fun.

As the guys work through their fears, self-consciousness, feelings of worthlessness and anxieties (over everything from being overweight to child custody, bigotry to being gay), they come to discover that not only are they stronger as a group, but that the strength they find in each other gives them the individual courage to face their demons and overcome them.

There is great heart to THE FULL MONTY, and the ultimate themes expressed in the show, about taking charge of one’s life and following one’s dreams are great lessons for all of us.

Style: Broadway/Pop
Notes: This two act show is rated R. Ethnic roles and roles for children are available in this production.
